Belief Statement

Concerning the Scriptures

  • We believe the 66 books of the Bible to be the perfect and inerrant Word of God. It is absolutely true because of its source, God. Under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, God spoke through the authors of the books, thus the words that are contained within Scripture are the very Words of God. II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:19-21
  • We believe, since Scripture is the very Word of God that it is authoritative for mankind, for all matters of faith and life. Psalm 119
  • We believe the literal 6 day creation in Genesis, and all miracles stated within Scripture. Genesis 1-2, Psalm 77:14
  • We believe that the canon of Scripture is closed; complete and sufficient. We reject any writings that claim to be Scripture but are not contained within the 66 books of the Bible. Deuteronomy 4:2, Deuteronomy 18:20-22, Revelation 22:18-19

Concerning God

  • We believe that there is only one true living God. He is eternal and absolutely perfect and sovereign, decreeing all things from the foundation of time. God exists in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each of the persons of the Trinity are unique but share in being one God (for example, Jesus died on the cross, not the Father). Deuteronomy 6:4, Psalm 115:3, Jeremiah 4:28, Luke 3:21-22,
  • We believe God is a jealous God and is to be worshipped. There are no true gods or religions outside of Him. We reject any movement or religion that promotes a way to God outside of the way He has revealed Himself in Scripture. Exodus 20:4-6, Deuteronomy 5:8-10,
  • We believe God is eternal and transcendent. He is the Creator and not created. He has no beginning or end. Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 33:27, Psalm 90:2, John 1:1-2
  • We believe God, as Creator, has authority over all things, physical and spiritual, including man, Satan, and his demons. Job 1-2, Psalm 8:6, Matthew 28:18, Luke 10:17, Colossians 1:16-17
  • God the Father

o   We believe He works according to His own good and perfect purposes. He has decreed for all things to happen for His glory. His Fatherhood is seen in His role within the Trinity and Mankind. He is Creator of all men, but spiritual Father only to believers. He saves only those who come to Him through Jesus Christ. Isaiah 42:8, Romans 8:14-17, Romans 8:28-29, I Corinthians 8:6, Ephesians 1:13-14

o   We believe the Father is sovereign in creation, providence and redemption. We reject any form of open-theism which proposes that God is powerless, or unknowing regarding the future, man, the human will and creation. Genesis 1-2, Genesis 50:20, Psalm 115:3, John 10:29, Titus 1:1-2

  • God the Son

o   We believe Jesus is God the Son, who like the Father is eternal; He has no beginning or end. Jesus is the Promised Messiah, sent from the Father, to redeem God’s people. Jesus is cocreator of all things. Jesus is the second member of the Trinity, fully man and fully God. We reject any teaching that claims Jesus was created by the Father in the same way that angels or men were created. Matthew 1:21, John 1:1-4, John 6:38-40, Colossians 1:15-19, Colossians 2:9

o   We believe Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary as recorded in Scripture. He lived a perfect and sinless life. After three years of earthly ministry of teaching, preaching, and healing, Jesus was crucified on a cross. His death on the cross was part of God’s plan from before the foundation of time to save a people. After spending three days in the grave, Jesus was physically raised from the dead in the flesh, thus demonstrating the Father’s acceptance of Christ’s death. We reject any teaching that denies Jesus’ death on the cross or His physical resurrection. Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 2, Acts 4:24-30, I Corinthians 15:3-7, Revelation 13:8

o   We believe the death of Christ satisfied the requirements of wrath against God’s people, thus bringing reconciliation between God and His people. There is no other way to receive salvation apart from Christ, Who is the gate to the Father. John 10:1-10, John 10:24-30, John 14:6, I Corinthians 15:3-7, Romans 5:6-10

  • God the Holy Spirit

o   We believe the Holy Spirit, like God the Father and God Son, is eternal. The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Trinity and shares in the divine excellencies of the Godhead. Like the Father and the Son, He had part in creation. Genesis 1:1, Deuteronomy 6:4,

o   We believe the Holy Spirit is sent from the Father and the Son, converting the heart of the sinner, and giving him understanding of spiritual things and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is instrumental in salvation, causing a person to be born again, and regenerating the heart of the sinner. The Holy Spirit is the seal and guarantee of salvation, indwelling every believer. Ezekiel 37:13-14, John 14:26, John 15:26, I Corinthians 2:14, II Corinthians 5:5, Ephesians 1:13-14,

o   We believe the Holy Spirit functions as the builder of the Body of Christ, convicting sinners of sin, righteousness, judgment and transforms believers into the image of Christ. Ezekiel 37:13-14, John 16:8, Romans 8:29

o   We believe the Holy Spirit is the one who spoke through the prophets and the authors of the Bible. He spoke through them so that what is written in Scripture is not the words of men, but of God. II Peter 1:20-21

o   We believe The Holy Spirit gifts believers in different and unique ways for the purpose of redeeming the lost and edifying the Church; however not all believers are gifted with the same gifts. I Corinthians 12

o   We believe the Holy Spirit intercedes for the believer and the Holy Spirit equips the believer to pray to God the Father. Romans 8:26-27

 Concerning Man

  • We believe that man and woman were from conception originally created by God, in the image of God, and free from sin. Genesis 1:26-27
  • We believe that Adam acted on all mankind’s behalf as well as his own. All are born into sin with a corrupt nature from Adam and deserve death and God’s wrath. Genesis 8:21, Romans 3:23-25, Romans 5:12-21, Romans 6:23
  • We believe that all mankind is hopelessly lost and in need of the Savior, Christ Jesus. Psalm 51:5, Romans 3:10-18, Ephesians 2:1-3, Colossians 1:21
  • We believe that marriage is a God ordained union between one man and one woman. Genesis 1:27-28, Genesis 2:24, Mark10:6-9, Ephesians 5:22-33, I Timothy 3:2, I Timothy 3:12, Titus 1:6
  • We believe because all mankind is created in the image of God, human life is sacred, to be valued, and protected from conception. Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5, Luke 1:41

Concerning Salvation

  • We believe salvation is by Christ alone, not a result of man’s works. Philippians 1:6, Philippians 2:12-13, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7
  • We believe that Christians are reconciled to God through the single offering of Christ and thus have been adopted as sons of God. Romans 8:15-17, Galatians 4:5-7, Ephesians 1:5, Hebrews 10:2-4, Hebrews 10:14, I Peter 3:18
  • We believe the believer has no righteousness of his own, but requires the perfect righteousness of Christ to be imputed on his behalf. Isaiah 64:6, Matthew 3:15, Romans 5:19, II Corinthians 5:21, Galatians 3:13, Philippians 3:8-9
  • We believe that those who have been redeemed by Christ are guaranteed eternal life. John 3:16, John 5:24, John 10:28-29, Romans 8:38-39, Ephesians 1:13-14

Concerning The Church

  • We believe the Church is made up of all born again believers in Christ who have been redeemed by His blood. It includes people from every nation, tribe, people and language throughout history. Genesis 12:1-3, John 3:3, I Corinthians 12:12, Revelation 7:9-10
  • We believe that Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. Ephesians 1:22-23, 4:15-16, 5:27, Colossians 1:18
  • We believe the Church is holy, set apart by God to be salt and light in a lost and dying world. Matthew 5:13-16, Colossians 3:12-13, I Peter 2:9
  • We believe the mission of the Church is to preach the gospel and make disciples of all people groups in the world. Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 10:14-15, II Timothy 4:1-2
  • We believe the Church exists to encourage believers and show the love of Christ to one another. Christians are encouraged by the affirmation of God’s truths to each other in study and teaching. The mission of the local church is to edify the saints by supporting each other spiritually, emotionally, and financially. John 13:34-35, Acts 2:42-47, Acts 4:32-37, Romans 15:7, II Corinthians 8:1-5, I Thessalonians 5:11, I John 4:7-8
  • We believe the Church is to reflect the love of Christ to all people. Matthew 18:21-35, Luke 10:25-37, Galatians 6:10, Ephesians 5:1-2
  • We believe the local church is to be governed by a plurality of elders. Elders are to be men who fulfill the qualifications as outlined within Scripture, oversee the spiritual condition of the congregation, and teach sound doctrine. Acts 14:23, I Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, Hebrews 13:17, I Peter 5:1-5

Concerning Christians

  • We believe all Christians are a part of the global Church; they are to be engaged in fellowship with a local church for the purpose of further maturity, service and accountability to the elders of a congregation. Romans 12:3-8, Ephesians 4:11-16 Hebrews 10:24-25, Hebrews 13:17, I Peter 5:1-5
  • We believe a Christian is a person who has heard the gospel, believes it to be true, repents of his sin, and is born again by the Holy Spirit. He becomes a new creation, putting aside the old self, and desiring to please God through worship and obedience. Mark 1:15, John 3:3, John 3:16, Romans 6:17-19, Romans 10:8-17, II Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:22-24

  • We believe Christians are to participate in the ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper. Acts 2:38-47, I Corinthians 11:23-30
  • We believe that though one is justified by Christ’s work on the Cross, the process of sanctification and maturity continue during the believer’s life on earth. Philippians 1:6

Concerning The Future

  • We believe that Jesus Christ will come again to this earth visibly, physically and in great power and glory. Matthew 24:30, II Thessalonians 1:7-10, Revelation 19:11-21
  • We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the universal judgment for all, both the living and the dead. Believers will be found righteous in Christ, while unbelievers will be condemned for their sins. John 5:27, Hebrews 9:27, I Peter 4:5, II Peter 3:7, Revelation 20:11-15

  • We believe the present heavens and earth will be destroyed, and God will create a new heaven and a new earth. Isaiah 65:17, II Thessalonians 1:9, II Peter 3:10, Revelation 21:1-8
